Solution
- Lillian Walker can be eliminated from the suspect list.
- Previously, it was established that Toby had to have been killed sometime between 9:00 PM and 10:15 PM. Based on the trail cam photos, the killer was using Tall Pines Trail as a route back to camp from Echo Cavern, and they were on this route from at least 10:15 PM to 10:45 PM. According to the field interviews, everyone was in camp at 11 PM.
- In her field interview, Lillian claims that she hiked to a scenic spot after dinner to obtain footage during golden hour. She said that according to Rusty, the sun would start going down a little after 9:00 PM. True to its name, golden hour lasts one hour, so starting around 9:00 PM, Lillian would have one hour to obtain her footage.
- The photograph appears to have been taken during golden hour and has a timestamp for 21:48 (9:48 PM) on the night of the murder. There is handwriting on the back that has a reminder to "add footage to segment 3". The handwriting can be matched with other handwritten documents to reveal that Lillian wrote this message. Based on this evidence, Lillian was telling the truth in her field interview. The photograph also shows a waterfall in the shot. Referencing the topographical map reveals that the only waterfall in the area, Highground Falls, is located in the southeast part of the region. It would take more than XX minutes for her to travel to the crime scene from this location.
- This implies that Lillian took the photograph at Highground Falls around the approximate time of the murder, which would put her in a faraway location and absolve her of suspicion. This is a moderate alibi, which can be strengthened with another piece of evidence: the DeviantTracker audio. The audio was recorded on the date of the murder and it features Lillian's voice, which can be confirmed to be her by hearing her same voice in the DeviantTracker video clips.
- Using the slider on the DeviantTracker audio player isolates the background audio. The isolated audio is the sound of a waterfall - Highground Falls. This puts Lillian at Highground Falls at the time of the murder, and combined with the information in the photograph, it confirms that the alibi she provided in the field interview is valid. It also confirms that her location was far enough away from Echo Cavern during the time of Toby's death to rule her out as the killer.
- With this confirmation, Lillian Walker can be eliminated as a suspect.
