  • The texts are encoded with a QWERTY cipher, also known as a keyboard shift cipher. It can be decoded manually or with the Automatic Decoder on DeviantTracker.

  • The text message chain reads:

    • Sarah: Are you there?
    • N: Of course.
    • N: Maggie OK?
    • Sarah: Sleeping, thank god. C put her to sleep.
    • N: Good. What's up?
    • Sarah: I can't do this anymore. He refuses to believe anything is wrong...
    • N: I know.
    • N: It won't be much longer. He'll have to realize then.
    • Sarah: Promise?
    • N: Are you in bed?
    • Sarah: No, I"m in the kitchen.
    • N: Go out on the porch and call me. He won't hear

Motive

  • Sarah was detailed in her statement and signed a search waiver for the PI in Episode 1, which helps her credibility. Her cooperation makes it unlikely that she would have committed the murder.

 

Opportunity

  • Sarah was likely not at the murder scene at the time of Charlie's death (around 9:37 PM) because she was at home receiving a pizza delivery and had no transportation. In her statement, she says that she was watching their daughter all night and that she and Charlie only have one car. She does not mention the pizza delivery in her statement, but the receipt on DeviantTracker indicates that she was home to receive the delivery. These fact are supported by:

    • Crime Scene Description (Episode 1): Corroborates that the car Charlie died in was registered in his name.
    • Antonio's Statement (Episode 1): Corroborates that Charlie left the reunion with someone else in his car, meaning it had to be someone who attended the reunion.
    • Delivery Receipt: Corroborates that Sarah made an order at 9:12 PM and signed for the order in person. Per the fine print on the receipt, she received the delivery at her house less than or exactly 30 minutes from the order time.
